Pottery Market [Market] August 12, 4-7 PM | National Museum of Women in the Arts | FREE
Support local women and nonbinary potters at this summer market inspired by the current NMWA exhibit Burnished: Pueblo Pottery. Each artisan builds on traditional methods while bringing their own vision and style to their work. Register
Create a Sun Print: An Introduction to Cyanotypes with Zofie King [Workshop] August 15, 10 AM-12 PM | The Athenaeum | FREE
Make your own artwork using sunlight and simple photographic materials. In this workshop, you will learn to lay semi-transparent objects on photosensitive paper, expose it to UV light, and watch as covered areas remain white while exposed portions turn beautiful shades of blue. The result is a cool memento of whatever you choose to “photograph.” All materials will be provided, including objects and negatives for exposure (or bring your own object). RSVP
Art & Me | Family Workshop: Making with Molds [Family Workshop] August 15, 11 AM-12:30 PM | National Museum of Asian Art | FREE
Bring your little one to learn how bronze sculptures take their form in this hands-on workshop for children ages 3-8. They will start by looking closely at the largest bronze ever cast in Southeast Asia (woah!), on loan from the National Museum of Cambodia, in Vishnu’s Cosmic Ocean. Then, they will use pieces of clay and simple molds to create their very own sculptural forms and learn how the casting process works from start to finish. RSVP

Family-Friendly Tetrapak Print Workshop with Lee Butler [Workshop] August 17, 4-6 PM | Washington Studio School | FREE
Learn the magic of intaglio printmaking using recycled cartons. The silvery film inside soy milk, coconut water, and other beverage boxes can be used to create effects similar to dry point and etching techniques. Design, ink up, and print using these simple household materials in this make-and-take session. This workshop is perfect for families with children 12. Plan to bring your own tetrapak cartons with the silvery film material intact. The event is led by Lee Butler, Washington Studio School Master Certificate Graduate and Corcoran Alumni. RSVP
